Chris Hemsworth fans have been left surprised over the fact that his son doesn’t call the Thor actor ‘dad’, causing him to set the record straight.
The Hollywood star, 40, shares twin sons Tristan and Sasha, nine, with wife Elsa Pataky, 47, as well as 11-year-old daughter India.
Taking to Instagram, Chris, who until recently was set to play WWE legend Hulk Hogan in a biopic for Netflix, shared a video of himself fishing with his sons while on a family holiday in Fiji, where Tristan could clearly be heard not referring to his father by ‘dad’.
In fact, as the Extraction star grappled with his rod on the boat while struggling to reel in a fish, Tristan could be heard saying: ‘Come on, Chris. Come on – keep on fighting it!’
‘Why is his son calling him Chris 🤔’ asked baffled fan Anthony Tierney in the comments section, and it seemed many others were equally surprised.
‘Came to ask same question… what happened to Dad?’ pondered Andrea Scott in response, while user @fabulouspio suggested: ‘I feel it’s just a banter moment between them. Nothing serious.’

However, Nina Gibson disagreed, posting: ‘Disrespect calling your father by his name at that age. I have always heard Chris call his father dad.’
Australians in Chris’s comments also suggested the reason, with Tamara Craig explaining: ‘It’s an Aussie thing I guess. Many of us do that.’
‘Yep it’s an Aussie thing,’ chimed in Laura Shakespeare. ‘My kinds do it all the time. I tell them off but they just laugh.’
It appeared Chris noticed the confusion himself though, as he quickly leapt in to clarify what the situation was with his name.
‘If your [sic] wondering why my son calls me Chris it’s because I’m his BFF and true mates don’t call each other dad,’ he wrote in the caption.
Alongside pictures of him and Elsa on the boat, and with Chris’s eventual catch, herevealed: ‘My son wanted to catch a fish for the locals in Fiji and after 3 attempts and about 12 hrs at sea we pulled in this beauty. Fed the village for 3 days.’

The daredevil actor was previously praised for ‘letting boys be boys’ as he allowed his sons to perform dangerous stunts on their dirt bikes – all under the supervision of him and their Hunger Games star Liam, 33, though of course.
Their tricks included wheelies and an instance where one lay on the floor as the other raced up a verge and jumped over him on the bike, among other leaps on the motorised bikes.
Alongside keeping very active to stay in impressive shape, Chris’s chef recently revealed what went into the star’s very strict diet.
His motivation to eat well also extends beyond his movie roles as he recently discovered he could be prone to Alzheimer’s while filming for his TV show.
The star took a genetic test while making Limitless with Chris Hemsworth last year and was shocked to learn he possessed a gene that could cause him to develop the disease.
